Team Generator Wheel

Spin names into balanced random teams with no captains and no picking order.

About the Team Generator Wheel

Captain-picks-teams has one guaranteed outcome: somebody gets chosen last, in front of everyone. The Team Generator replaces that ritual with rotation. Enter the names, choose how many teams you need, and the wheel assigns each spun name to the next team in sequence, Team 1, Team 2, back to Team 1, until the list is empty and the squads are even.

Randomness also rebalances repeat games. When the same friend group plays five-a-side every week, fixed teams calcify and the same side keeps winning; a fresh random split each session mixes skill levels and keeps results interesting. The eight names included are placeholders, so replace them with your actual group before the first spin.

Four quick steps

How to use it

  1. Replace the placeholder names with everyone who is playing.
  2. Set the number of teams you want to create.
  3. Spin repeatedly; each name is assigned to the next team in rotation.
  4. Read out the final rosters once every name has been placed.
