About the Daily Task Priority Wheel

Choosing which task to start is itself a task, and it is where a lot of procrastination hides. The Daily Task Priority Wheel outsources that choice. Load your to-do list in the morning, and whenever you finish something, spin for the next item. The decision takes three seconds instead of ten minutes of list-staring.

Weights keep the randomness honest about priorities. In the preset, the deep work block and the report carry weight 3 while quick admin carries weight 1, so important work comes up three times as often without ever being guaranteed first. Completed tasks are removed after each spin, which turns your morning list into a countdown: by the last spin, only one task remains.

This method suits days when every task is genuinely necessary but none is urgent, which is exactly when prioritizing by feel wastes the most time. It is not for deadline days: if something must ship by 5 pm, do that first without spinning, then load the wheel with whatever remains.

Four quick steps

How to use it

  1. Replace the sample entries with today's actual tasks each morning.
  2. Give bigger weights to the tasks that matter most.
  3. Spin, do the winning task to completion, and let it drop off the wheel.
  4. Repeat after each finished task until the wheel is empty.
